Andrea Hammel-Wollak

In the third grade, Andrea developed a passion for the idea of treading lightly upon the earth, or, in today's green dialect, an awareness of her carbon footprint. In the eighth grade, after two drafting classes, Andrea knew she wanted to be an architect. She later realized how important communication is, though not nearly as much fun as drawing. The combination of these things along with looking at things a little differently has led her to a love of and career in design and sustainable practices.

Andrea graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor's of Architecture. She attended the university's study abroad program in Rome and focused on sustainable architecture throughout her years of studio work. She continues her pursuit of educating her clients about where their products come from and how efficiently their building performs.

During the past decade, Andreas work experience has run the full gamut, including: an 80 SF bathroom remodel in N.Y.C.; construction management on a 5,000 SF Palladian style villa in New Jersey; a 273,000 SF interior design and documentation of a new casino facility in Wisconsin; a 1.45 million SF casino back-of-house programing and life safety planning in New Jersey; and facility management at a company in Minnesota.

When it comes to design, Andrea if a fan of concrete, steel, wood and glass; clean, simple forms are her favorite, but her husband's whimsical side has been rubbing off on her, creating playful elements to her modern approach.

Jon Wollak

Jon comes to the firm as a bit of a rogue architect – Hawaiian shirts instead of black ones. He graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor's of Architecture. He attended the university's study abroad program in Rome where he received a grant for an independent sculpture study which he combined with a series of crazy model building.

Along with his great design sense, Jon is savvy within the BIM (Building Information Modeling) component of the profession having worked in Revit since 2007. Since starting this type of work, the projects he has been involved in run from all ends of the spectrum, from large-scale hospital additions to classroom additions at an elementary school, and almost everything in between

Combining his own Revit project experience with several years as a software trainer for his colleagues at his previous multinational firm, Jon is a valuable consultant for firms just starting in Revit.
